
Americus - More than 500 expected to attend Phoebe Sumter Medical Center 's 6th Annual Breast Cancer Awareness Walk on Saturday, October 24th.
WHO: People from Americus & Sumter County as well as from other parts of the state and nation are expected to attend
WHAT: The Annual Breast Cancer Awareness Walk is to raise awareness for breast cancer prevention as well show support for breast cancer survivors and their families. In the past five years, more than 1,500 people have participated in this event, which starts at the hospital and goes through the heart of the city.
The walk is a culmination of a number of Breast Cancer Awareness Month activities, which include local businesses decorating their storefronts in pink and community members wearing pink every Friday.
WHERE: The walk will begin at Phoebe Sumter Medical Center , located at 1048 East Forsyth Street, Americus , GA. There are three routes that walkers can choose from, ranging from approximately 1 miles to 4 miles.
WHEN: Saturday, October 24 th , 2009; Registration begins at 8 am; Walk starts at 9 am
