ARLINGTON, GA (WALB) - Two Florida women are in a South Georgia jail, accused of an identity theft case that spans three states.

26-year-old Marissa Jefferson and 35-year-old Sharon Brown were arrested in Calhoun County October 16th. Moments before their arrest, Arlington Police say they tried to cash a payroll check for nearly $500 from a company by the name of Gulf States Cold Storage out of Arlington.

Jerry Taylor at Taylor's Market has lived in Calhoun County all of his life and knew it was a fake company.  He called police.

Jefferson admitted they've cashed fake checks in Georgia, Alabama and Florida using the stolen license and identity of a Zoe Pelp-White. The woman's stolen license and blank checks in her name were recovered along with a computer and printer in the women's rented vehicle.

Jefferson and Brown are charged with several crimes including Identity Fraud and Theft By Bringing Stolen Property Into The State.

Arlington Police Chief Casey Taylor thinks they've also cashed fake checks in Dougherty County. If you think you've had contact with the women, call police.
