Pelham, GA (WALB) - A woman was stabbed multiple times early Wednesday morning outside a Pelham apartment. Police were called out to the William Alexander Homes on Martin Luther King Boulevard around 1 a.m.
Officers found 43-year-old Shelly Davis outside an apartment suffering from several stab wounds. She was rushed by paramedics to Archibold Memorial Hospital in Thomasville where she is listed in guarded condition.
Witnesses told investigators they saw 45-year-old Morris Williams running from the scene headed east on MLK Blvd. and into the woods. Williams, who police say lived with the victim, is considered a person of interest.
The front porch of the apartment ,where the stabbing took place, was covered with the victim's blood. Several people in the neighborhood came to Davis' aid. Willie Garden, who lives nearby, saw her just moments after she was attacked.
"The girl started screaming and everything. When I got over there her arm was split. The back of her arm had a big gash in it. I don't know how many times she got stabbed. She was in shape," he said.
Officers spent the early morning hours searching for the Williams and interviewing several people who witnessed the brutal attack.
Williams is black, 5'6 160 pounds with a medium build and complexion. Anyone with information on his whereabouts should call Pelham Police at 229-294-6000.
