THOMASVILLE,  GA (WALB) - State Representative Mike Keown has raised more than $100,000 in just six weeks for his campaign for Congress.

The Thomas County Republican is challenging 2nd District Congressman Sanford Bishop.

Keown says his campaign is off to an incredibly strong start. He says supporters are coming out of the woodwork. He says Bishop has lost touch with southwest Georgia.

"We're still one of the poorest districts in the United States, and that hasn't changed. In the last 16 years that hasn't changed. We need to be able to bring businesses in, create more jobs," said Rep. Mike Keown, (R) Coolidge.

90% of Keown's money was raised in the 2nd District. He hopes to raise a million dollars. Keown says he has faith he has enough support to win the election in 2010.
