ALBANY, GA (WALB) - The final survivor of a tragic car accident in Louisiana, has died from his injuries, bringing the total number dead to five.
22-year-old Rito Gomez of Turner County died last night in a Baton Rouge Hospital.
He was driving four other family members to Texas when a truck slammed into their vehicle Friday.
The pickup carrying the Ashburn family was stopped in a construction zone when 30-year-old Dwayne Leggett slammed into it causing it to burst into flames.
18-month old Alondra Brionca, her mother 27-year-old Sonia Gomez Brionca, 35-year-old Jacqueline Gomez, and 54-year-old Maria Barillos also died.
Friends are collecting money for funeral expenses.
