ALBANY, GA (WALB) - 47-year-old Ivan Paquet of Albany has been charged with failure to yield after stopping at a stop sign, and second degree vehicular homicide, a misdemeanor, after colliding with a motorcycle Thursday evening.
Paquet was driving a Dodge pickup truck on Antioch Road when he pulled out in front of 57-year-old Larry Collins of Baconton, who was headed south on The Liberty Expressway.
Dougherty County Police Lt. Cliff Rouse said, "The vehicle driver could not see due to another vehicle who was trying to make a turn onto Antioch, and pulled in front of the motorcycle."
Rouse said Collins' motorcycle hit the back end of the pickup truck.
Collins was alive at the scene but died about 20 minutes later. It's the second motorcycle fatality in south Georgia in a week and at least the fifth in the last five months.
