DOUGHERTY COUNTY, GA (WALB) - A man died Thursday night, after a motorcycle crash in south Dougherty County.
It's the second motorcycle fatality in south Georgia in a week, and it's at least the fifth in the last five months.
Around 5:30, 57-year-old Larry Collins from Baconton was headed south on the Liberty Expressway.
He slammed into a Dodge pickup truck that pulled in front of him at Antioch Road. The impact was so intense that it broke the truck's drive shaft.
Collins was alive at the scene but died about 20 minutes later.
"The vehicle driver could not see due to another vehicle who was trying to make a turn onto Antioch and pulled in front of the motorcycle, motorcycle striking the back end of the pickup truck, when we arrived he was laying there and had his helmet on, EMT's and paramedics were working on him," said Lt. Cliff Rouse, Dougherty County Police.
47-year-old Ivan Paquet of Albany was driving the pickup.
Police are still investigating and haven't filed charges yet.
