CUTHBERT, GA (WALB) - About 2.3 Million veterans from world war two still living Ennis L. Brooks is one of them.

Brooks is a South Georgia native, he turns 95-years-old on Monday, outliving many of his military servicemen.

Brooks was in charge of a unit that maintained and repaired the aircraft used in combat.

One of his fond memories was of VE day I was in France more than a million people celebrated in the streets to mark the end of the European part of the war.

Unlike many back then Brooks wasn't drafted but instead decided to volunteer.

"The draft board was set up there in Calhoun County and I knew I was going to be drafted so I volunteered that way I can pick a little bit and I pick the AirForce. My buddy picked the infantry because he wanted action, and he got it he got the Japanese theater," said Ennis L. Brooks, WWII Veteran.

Mr. Brooks continued to served in the Air Force Reserves when he returned stateside.

He started to work at a saw mill with his brother who was also in the service.
