Warrants issued for Rod Jolivette

Posted: Updated:

ALBANY, GA - (WALB) - An Albany firefighter recently demoted because of unethical behavior is now accused of illegal behavior, and warrants have beeb issued for Rod Jolivette's arrest.

Jolivette is charged with impersonating a uniformed officer and providing false information to police.

A Chattahoochee County Sheriff's deputy stopped Jolivette for speeding, going 83 in a 55 mile-per-hour zone.

The deputy says Jolivette told him he worked for the Dougherty County Sheriff's office, so he did not write a ticket.  That officer later checked with Dougherty County and found out Jolivette lied, so he took out the warrants.

In April, the Albany fire chief fired Jolivette for ordering an on-duty crew to clean up a relative's flooded house, then lying about it.  The city manager re-instated Jolivette but demoted him.

He is essentially still on probation with the city.  No word yet on how these criminal charges will affect his job.
