TERRELL COUNTY, GA (WALB) - Authorities in Terrell County worry gangs are getting a foothold there.
Gang graffiti has started showing up recently. Tuesday night, Dawson's Police Chief and the Terrell County Sheriff put together a town hall meeting to educate people about gangs.
Albany Lieutenant James Williams told them what to look out for like clothing, symbols and gang slang.
"Education is important when it comes to any gang-related activity. It helps the public know that there are gangs here and they need to be aware of it and they need to stop it before the problem gets out of hand," said Dawson Police Chief Charlie Whitehead.
Law enforcers say citizens need to follow-up by reporting any signs of gang activity they see.
