ALBANY, GA (WALB) - A group focusing on stopping the violence in Albany and Dougherty County is looking for partners in their fight.
Last week, the Georgia Music Association held a stop the violence block party in the Holly Homes neighborhood. Now, the group has moved to another section of the south side, forming at partnership with House of Mercy Community Outreach Center on South Jackson Street hoping to encourage children to not be part of street violence.
"One of the reasons that it is important is because partnerships work, networking, collaboration work," said Henry Thomas, Georgia Music Association Founder.
The group hopes to build partnership in outlying counties as well and will plan events in Camilla and Blakely which recently experienced gang violence. The group is also working to put together a larger event at the Civic Center in August.
