MACON, Ga. (AP) - A memorial service has been scheduled for Horace Fleming Jr., a longtime administrator at Mercer University and former president of the University of Southern Mississippi.
Fleming died at 65 Friday at his Macon, Ga., home. The service is set for Friday at 10 a.m. in Willingham Auditorium on Mercer's Macon campus.
Fleming was executive vice president and provost at Mercer University before going to Hattiesburg. He returned to Mercer after leaving Southern Mississippi. Last year, Mercer appointed him a distinguished university professor.
Fleming taught 19 years at Clemson University in Clemson, S.C., and served as executive vice president at the University of the Pacific in Stockton, Calif.
Survivors include his wife, daughter and son.
Visitation will be held Thursday from 6 to 9 p.m. at Hart's Mortuary in Macon.
