ALBANY, GA (WALB) - In Cobb, clean up crews are busy salvaging damaged homes and trying to get damaged businesses back to work.
Crews worked along Cobb-Cheek Road, tearing down what remains of several homes. They hope to salvage some of the wood and aluminum. Trucks crushed under the weight of garages remain right where they were when the storm blew through overnight Friday. It should be the busiest time of the year for The Plant Place. They're busy, but it's with the clean up as they try to salvage plants and their damaged sprinkler system.
"They're broke off above the ground, under the ground, the debris is on top of it and we're starting to find the broke pipe and we're trying to get the system back on so we can water our plants," said Charlie Stephens, The Plant Place Manager.
The company's wholesale business was hurt by the damage, but retail sales are okay thanks to loyal customers.
