Tournament to bring more than a million dollars to Crisp County economy

CRISP COUNTY, GA (WALB) - Crisp County is expected to see more than $1 million this year all thanks to the tournaments that come to the area.

Elite Sports is bringing in a travel softball tournament for USSSA.

About 40 teams from Alabama, Georgia and Florida will fill the Crisp County Youth Ball Complex.

Players ages 10 to 18 will play Saturday from 8 a.m. to midnight, bringing in thousands of people to the county.

“The revenue stream we bring in for tournaments, we host about 30 tournaments a year out here at the complex and we bring in over 25,000 people annually and last year. Our economic impact was over a million dollars in the community,” said Eric Bozeman, the recreation director.

The complex has nine fields for softball players and it just finished a $1.6 million expansion, where they added more playing fields. Those fields will open in the fall.
