Albany police arrest third teen in S. Van Buren Street shooting

ALBANY, GA (WALB) - Albany police have arrested two minors and a 17-year-old for an after-school fight and shooting that happened Thursday, according to the Albany Police Department.

According to APD, a 15-year-old male was arrested around 6:15 Saturday night “for his role in the after-school fight and shootout” that happened on South Van Buren Street Thursday.

Police said the 15-year-old was charged with aggravated assault, tampering with evidence and possession of a firearm by a minor.

Keyunte Stephens, 17, was taken into custody around 5 p.m. Saturday, according to officers.

APD said Stephens has been charged with aggravated assault “for his part in the large fight and shooting that took place on South Van Buren.”

On Thursday, the Albany Gang Unit arrested and charged a 16-year-old male with tampering with evidence and possession of a firearm by a minor.

”This remains an ongoing investigation until several others who are persons of interest have been located. Anyone who has information is asked to give us a call or Crime Stoppers,” said Sgt. Gregory Gadt with the APD Gang Unit.

Gadt said Stephens was out on bond for a 2017 armed robbery charge.
