TIFTON, GA (WALB) - The Tift County Blue Devils boys basketball team has shown their dominance over region one 7-A for the past 7 years.
After clinching their 7th region tournament title in a row, the Blue Devils now get the chance to focus on the state tournament.
Tift County just continues to rack up the region titles.
Along with those 7 tournament titles, the Blue Devils also have 11 consecutive regular season titles.
Looking for their first state title since 2017, head coach Chris Wade said most of his guys remember that state title run, but now get the chance to claim it themselves.
“This year has improved more from the beginning of the season to this point," said Wade, "probably more than any team I’ve ever coached. We’re proud of that fact. They’ve taken the inexperience and learned from it throughout the year. Now they don’t look like a team that doesn’t have as much experience. They are actually playing a pretty high level on both ends of the floor. We’re looking forward to having an opportunity to give ourselves another opportunity to play another home game, if we were to win that one.”
The Blue Devils will host the Walton Raiders Friday.
