TERRELL CO., GA (WALB) - Authorities confirm that strong winds came through Dawson, ripping off the roof of a Alphabet Academy Daycare on Baldwin Street.
According to Sheriff John Bowens, there were nine children inside but they were safely evacuated and no one was injured.
“So I ran around the building grabbing all the kids and made sure we made it to a safe area. And after that the alarms went off, power went off. But thank God everybody was OK,” Tasha Lane.
Bowens said power lines and trees are reported to be down on Cinderella Lane and possibly 1st Avenue, causing the roads to be blocked.
The Terrell County Middle High School’s power is also out and the students will be released early.
We will continue to update this story as more information comes in.
