Arrest made after Worth deputies recover stolen property

SYLVESTER, GA (WALB) - The Worth Co. Sheriff’s Office investigated a residential theft in the 4700 block of Highway 112 South, that was discovered about 9 a.m. on Sunday, February 10th.

Worth County investigators searched multiple locations and recovered twelve golf carts, two tractors, and a 39’ goose-neck trailer that were all confirmed stolen.

The next day, Jonathan Thomas Barton, 33, of Bridgeboro, was arrested and charged with one count of felony theft by taking. Barton remains in Worth County jail without bond.

"Approximately $46,000 worth of property has been confirmed or positively identified as stolen and recovered,” said Interim Sheriff Don Whitaker. "Evidence is still being processed by Worth County investigators and more charges are pending on Barton, as well as other suspects.”
