DOUGLAS, GA (WALB) - A man who was shot in Douglas Feb. 6 died Friday night, according to the Coffee County Sheriff’s Office.
Douglas police said that Larry Tyrone Webb, 41, was shot multiple times during a fight with another person at the In & Out store in the 600 block of East Baker Highway.
According to the Douglas Police Department Facebook page, Webb was taken from the scene by EMS and airlifted to Navicent Health Center in Macon, in critical condition.
Webb was shot inside a vehicle during a fight with another person who was gone by the time police arrived.
Investigators were able to collect evidence that included surveillance video and witness statements from the scene.
Right now, investigators are reviewing evidence to figure out more about what happened. That includes video evidence and witness testimony.
Amber Ford said she knew Webb for a few weeks before the incident and said she was walking by when she heard gun shots.
“I was walking, walking down the street and then like there was a lot of cars, tons of cars just packed in the gas station. Then I heard gun shots and it scared me. I was like, oh my goodness what do I do,” said Ford.
Ford said she was shocked and upset to see someone she knew, in danger like that.
“I was like shocked," said Ford. "I was like, it’s so hard for him and his family. He didn’t deserve that at all.”
Douglas Police and Coffee County deputies are working together on the case.
At this time, investigators are in contact with everyone involved, including the other person involved in the altercation, and they’re not looking for anyone else.
