ALBANY, GA (WALB) - The Tiftarea YMCA is getting ready for its annual Father-Daughter Dance.
The event is the biggest fundraiser that the Tiftarea YMCA has.
The theme of the dance this year is "Behind the Mask" Masquerade Ball and will be held at the UGA Conference Center in Tifton.
All the money raised at the event will go to help provide scholarships for young adults.
Jason Bishoff, the sports and program director for the Tiftarea YMCA, said this is a fun event that hundreds of people take part in every year and he is excited to once again get the opportunity to take his daughter.
“This is something where you can come together and spend time together. Spend that quality time that you do not always get. It is time to set aside. Dads are busy working and things going on and the daughter can see how to treat her when she goes on a date someday or she is dating now. Teach her the right things and how to be on a date, but also spend that quality time together," said Bishoff.
The event will take place this Thursday from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. for ages up to third grade and 8:30 to 10:30 p.m. for ages fourth grade and above.
If you would like to buy tickets, you can do that by stopping by the Tiftarea YMCA.
Bishoff also wants the community to know that they are always looking for sponsors for events and donations. He said that with donations and sponsorship, the YMCA is able to create scholarships for students who may not be able to afford a membership.
“Sponsors for sports teams, looking for sponsors for events that we do. Also, if you just want to donate money we can do that as well and give that back to kids in the community because the Y is involved in so many things that we do that give back to kids in the community. We can find ways for the money to go into," said Bishoff.
If you would like to be a sponsor or donate to the Tiftarea YMCA, you can do that by stopping by the Tifton location at 1657 S. Carpenter Road.
The Tiftarea YMCA also wants to remind the community about the Tour De Tifton Bike ride coming up in April.
The event is a fundraising event for the YMCA and the bike ride will be Saturday, April 13.
The ride will start and end at the Tiftarea YMCA Hunt Park Campus.
Bishoff said this is the second biggest fundraising event for the YMCA.
“It is a bike ride we have that goes from 100 miles, 40 miles, 20 miles, 11 miles that we have. Through that event, also a fundraiser, but it is also where bikers get together and be able to ride their cycles in different areas all around the South Georgia area," said Bishoff.
The pre-registration fee is $40 per person or $50 for a family. After April 6, the cost will go up $10 on both.
