GSW Lady Canes looking to capitalize in 2019

AMERICUS, GA (WALB) - The GSW Softball team has already started their 2019 season... but is ready to show what those Lady Canes are all about.

Following their 2018 season, the Canes are hoping to capitalize off of their Peach Belt Conference appearance from last season, and build off of it this year.

With 12 returners to the Canes roster, they also welcome 12 new faces this season, who will be wearing the Canes jersey for the first time this season.

With 6 freshman joining the 6 transfers this season, head coach Nicki Levering said these players need to trust the process, that the team is building.

“I think letting them know that trusting the process is the most important thing for us right now," said Levering. "I think with Tierce being one of our main leaders, she leads by example on the field. She sets the standards of how we want everyone to play.”

“We just got a bunch of girls from top to bottom," said Senior 3rd baseman Haley Tierce. "We are a very strong lineup this year. Especially with the past weekend with us playing. We just proved that we are a force to be recognized with this year. I just know that every person on this team has a role and we’re built in to, we’re going to fill that role.”

The Lady Canes face off against Spring Hill College in the AUM Tournament at 5:15 P.M. this Friday.
