Moultrie MLK Day Parade Preps

MOULTRIE, GA (WALB) - Martin Luther King Jr. celebrations are just a couple of days away.

Several event coordinators in Moultrie said they’re wrapping up the last bit of work ahead of this weekend’s events.

Event Coordinator Laquita Bridges said the events begin Sunday.

Bridges said she’s hoping for a great turnout for the parade on Monday. She said this weekend is a great time to remember what MLK accomplished.

“This is a time for everybody to come together. There’s no little I’s and no big t’s. Let’s get to work, and put our heads together, it’s time to unite," said Bridges.

Friendship Missionary Baptist Church will host the first event at 5 p.m. on Sunday.

Bridges said anyone who wants to, can participate in the parade on Monday. If you’re interested, you can contact Bridges at (229) 429-9277.

If you decide to participate in the parade, Bridges said they’re meeting at the First Presbyterian Church at 501 1st St. SE. She said it begins at 2:00 p.m. and will end in downtown.

After the parade, there will be a community event at the Ryce Community Center.
