ALBANY, GA (WALB) - “We need to all realize that where litter lies, beauty dies,” says Judy Bowles, Executive Director of Keep Albany-Dougherty Beautiful.

Those are the words that Bowles hopes people will remember when they think about littering in 2019.

“We, for some reason, seem to have an abundant of litter right now,” says Bowles.

Bowles says she hopes that people will be on the lookout for those who are littering.

“We would like for every person, every neighborhood, every block to adopt your block and keep that litter picked up. Report and tell us if you get graffiti in that neighborhood,” says Bowles.

Bowles also wants the community to know the consequences of illegally dumping trash somewhere.

“If we catch you, it is going to be very expensive for you because the judge can charge you up to a thousand dollars. If you’re a repeat offender, he can give you jail time,” says Bowles.

Bowles wants to remind the community that the way one person treats the area is a reflection on everyone in the community.
