VALDOSTA, GA (WALB) - Business experts are saying the economic outlook for the state of Georgia is pleasant.
The Valdosta-Lowndes Chamber of Commerce hosted an event for more than 200 business leaders to discuss the economic future of the area.
The overall consensus for the country, the state and Valdosta was that we can expect a positive year with financial growth.
“If you look at the Valdosta MSA (metropolitan statistical areas), the unemployment rate has decline because of job growth. That’s very healthy. That’s showing that we have a strong economy. Compare that to Albany MSA, their unemployment rate has declined. That is because of a reduction in labor force participation," said Cindi Tori, Valdosta State University professor of Economics.
Tori said that indicates problems with economic development. She said that Albany’s labor force size has declined, which caused the difference in the rate.
