Albany organization looking to provide Community Meal of Love on MLK Day

ALBANY, GA (WALB) -With Martin Luther King Day around the corner, Laila’s Lil' Community Angels, MALIK Inc., needs your help with donations for their third annual ‘Community Meal of Love’ in Albany.

The non-profit organization will provide free hot meals, but they’re also looking for volunteers and donated items for the giveaway on MLK Day.

Leaders said this is the first time they’re giving away toiletries and are in need of things like socks, deodorant and more.

The president, Mya Jordan, said after losing her brother in a car wreck in 2017, they want to continue giving back to the community.

“It’s important to the organization I believe because it started off in 2016 when my brother was with us, and ever since he has passed away, we’ve just kept the tradition. And that’s exactly how Laila’s Lil Community Angels Malik Incorporation began,” said Jordan.

If you want to donate or get involved, you can call 229-376-9720.

The ‘Community Meal of Love’ is at the Albany Rescue Mission on January 21st from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
