VALDOSTA, GA (WALB) - On Thursday, the Valdosta Police Department announced the 29th Session of the Citizen’s Police Academy (CPA) which is scheduled to begin on Thursday, March 7, 2019 and end Thursday, May 9, 2019.
The CPA gives citizens a better understanding of the internal workings of a modern day law enforcement agency, while promoting a team concept between the Valdosta Police Department and the community.
Students will tour of the Valdosta-Lowndes Regional Crime Lab, the Emergency 911 Center, and Valdosta State Prison.
They will also have shooting simulation training, a ride along with patrol officers, and see the function and mission of each bureau within the department.
It’s all free to the public, and students will meet each Thursday evening during the 10 week class and there will be a graduation ceremony.

The class is limited in size and applicants are selected on a first come basis. The CPA is given twice a year, once in the spring and again in the fall.
There will be another session in the Fall of 2019.
