Phoebe to make changes to visitation policies during flu season

Phoebe New FLU Hours

ALBANY, GA (WALB) - It’s flu season and Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital wants to make sure you know its new guidelines that go into effect Friday.

On Wednesday, Phoebe held its monthly board meeting where officials discussed new hours of visitation.

Starting Friday, you can only visit a patient between 9 a.m. and 9 p.m.

Children under 18, and anyone with flu symptoms will not be allowed to visit.

If you’ve had a fever, cough or other symptoms, you’ll need to wait at least 24 hours from when the symptoms clear before you can come to the hospital to visit.

You’ll also need to wear protective gear and clean your hands.

“We have hand hygiene stations at all the major entrances and portals of entry that we have. If someone does have a cough or cold like symptoms, we know a mask can be very beneficial there," said Chief Medical Officer Steven Kitchen.

Kitchen said that making sure the community knows the new hours is important.
