COFFEE CO., GA (WALB) - Two men were arrested and charged for possession of marijuana during a traffic stop Thursday in Coffee County.
According to the Coffee County Sheriff’s Office, detectives conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for failing to yield to a traffic sign.
Instead of stopping for police, the vehicle continued traveling. Once the vehicle finally came to a stop, police approached the car and noticed the smell of marijuana coming from the vehicle, according to the sheriff’s office.
After a search, marijuana was found in the driver and rear passenger area.
The driver, Tevin Gainey, was arrested and charged with possession of marijuana. Gainey was also wanted on an outstanding bench warrant for failure to appear for an expired tag violation.
The rear passenger, Devountae Campbell, was also arrested and charged with possession of marijuana. Campbell was also wanted on an outstanding warrant for reckless conduct through the Douglas Police Department.
Both men are being held in the Coffee County Jail.
