Law enforcement salutes loss of Crisp Co. fire chief

Crisp Co. fire chief passes away

CRISP CO., GA (WALB) - The Crisp County community is mourning the loss of one of its leaders and law enforcement members saluted the fallen fire chief.

The Crisp County Sheriff’s Office posted a video of law enforcement saluting Jonathan Windham, who passed away, with flashing vehicle lights.

The loss felt among Crisp County First Responders is great today as Crisp County Fire Chief was escorted back home this morning.

Funeral arrangements have been set for Windham.

Visitation is 1 p.m. Saturday followed by the funeral at 4 p.m. at Cordele First United Methodist Church, 302 E 12th Ave.

Crisp County Fire Rescue announced in a Facebook post that Windham passed away.

Tonight we regret to inform you that we have lost a friend and brother firefighter. Chief Jonathan Windham passed away...

It said Windham died at Emory University Hospital in Atlanta.

The post calls him a “great leader and firefighter.”
